We believe that everyone should have access to hands-on, heart-centered learning, regardless of income or resources. That’s why we offer tiered pricing for all of our classes. This system is rooted in trust, transparency, and community care. It also allows those with financial resources to invest in the future of Green Door and the longevity of our mission. When you register, you’ll choose the tier that best fits your current financial situation. No application, no judgment.
Tier 1
Sustainer
You pay: Actual cost + 20%
This tier supports the whole system. If you have more financial resources, paying at this level helps us offer Tier 1 spots to others. Choosing this rate is an investment in the future of Green Door. It’s one way to practice mutual support and invest in the longevity of our mission.
Tier 2
True Cost
You pay: The actual cost of running the class
This tier reflects what it really costs us to offer the program, including fair compensation for instructors, materials, space rental, and day-to-day costs.
Tier 3
Low Cost
You pay: Actual cost – 20%
This tier is here to provide more financial flexibility for those who need it. If paying full price would be a stretch, this is for you.
Note: Tier 1 pricing is available to only 3 students per class and is not eligible for additional discounts.
Which Tier Should I Choose?
We invite you to reflect honestly on your financial access and choose the tier that feels right. Below are some general guidelines—not hard rules—to help:
Choose tier 1 if…
- You experience financial comfort and abundance
- You can comfortably meet all your needs and wants
- You have access to wealth, savings, property, or family support
By choosing this tier, you’re helping us offer lower-cost spots to those who need them. You’re planting seeds for equity and sustainability.
Choose tier 2 if…
- You can meet your basic needs and occasionally afford extras like dining out or taking a class
- You budget for things like entertainment or travel
- You are financially stable but appreciate pricing that matches your resources
This tier sustains our programs in a balanced way and helps us cover day-to-day costs of running a folk school.
Choose Tier 3 if…
- You may struggle to meet basic needs
- You have little to no disposable income or savings
- A class would be out of reach without this pricing option
