Meet Libby | Marketing Director
Libby Schnepf Bio
Libby is the Marketing Director at Green Door Folk School and owner of Strong Frankie Digital Marketing. In these two roles, she’s able to combine passions to creatively connect skill sharers and new skill learners.
A daughter of the Midwest, Libby’s journey has sent her crisscrossing around the Great Lakes Region. She grew up exploring and creating in Saginaw, Michigan, attended high school in Canton, Ohio, studied sustainable food systems in Madison, Wisconsin, and then found love and home among the people and landscapes of Traverse City, Michigan.
Currently working as a freelance digital marketer, Libby focuses her energy on working with local food systems, farms, and other community-based projects.
Inspired by her mother and Green Door Folk School Director, Kristina Schnepf, who found a new inner fire through hands-on work with paint and wood, Libby comes to her work at the Green Door Folk School driven by admiration for anyone who dares to try something new, and the collective power that comes from learning and sharing how to do things by hand.
Libby is a life-long learner, which includes learning the art of bravely being bad at something new! She’s proudly learning (and messing up): knitting (ask her about the sweater she’s been knitting for three years), mending clothes, and cross-country skiing.
Yes, she coined the tagline, but Libby wholeheartedly believes that “the future will be handmade.” She draws inspiration from the transformative power of handcrafting, seeing it as a way to create a more sustainable, beautiful, and interconnected future—one that fosters deep connections between people, the land, and each other.
