“Thanks, I Made It” Student Exhibition Opening

Thanks, I Made It is a collection of mixed folk art and functional craft created by students of the Green Door Folk School.
Each piece holds the pride of making with one’s own hands and the vulnerability of beginning again as an adult.
In a culture where much of our effort vanishes into screens, these objects insist on being felt. Shaping wood, stitching fabric, coaxing color from plants: such work leaves visible traces of time and touch. To hold what you have made is to feel a pride both ordinary and profound.
Folk art, too, may seem deeply ordinary. Born of necessity, it resists polish and exclusivity to affirm that beauty and function can belong to everyone. Thanks, I Made It carries that ethos forward, showing what becomes possible when adults reclaim the role of beginner and embrace the messy, brave, and deeply human act of making.
Gallery runs October 24 – December 20
