Introduction to Wet Felting

With a little patience and gentle agitation, transform wool into a beautifully felted project of your choosing! During this two day course, we’ll learn about the properties of wool and the process of wet felting. After some practice and play, we’ll dive into planning and creating individual projects. Wet felting involves soap and hot water; expect to get sudsy and wet! Please come with some ideas in mind, think: What felted goods could I use in my life? Coasters? A hat? A potholder?

Cost: $275 per person which includes a $25 material fee (includes olive oil soap and wool for a few small projects)

Prerequisites/Skill Level/Age Requirements:
- No prior felting experience required.
- Ages 18+
Meet Your Instructor
Lauren Dahl
Lauren first learned the craft of wet-felting from her teaching mentor at a Minneapolis based Waldorf school. She began to share the joys of making woolen goods with her Kindergarten students, and was quickly captured by the wonder of handwork. She left the Kindergarten for a few months of farming and crafting in Sweden where she continued to explore handwork, including shearing and processing raw wool. For the past year, Lauren has been living, working, and instructing at North House Folk School in Grand Marais, Minnesota. She is excited to join the team of Green Door Folk School and continue teaching the craft of wet felting in Traverse City, Michigan!

Optional Materials (Bring Along If You Have Them):
- Clothes and shoes that can get wet!
