Folk Poetry

February 6, 2026 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$92.00 – $138.00

Do you like to write? Have you ever been curious about a creative writing workshop? Come join us in an engaging, hands on class where participants explore poetic expression through writing, collaboration, and peer feedback. We will experiment with form, language, different media, and voice while exploring our own style as poets. We will be exploring our minds in various ways through writing prompts such as blackout and object poetry, as well as ekphrasis and a collaborative piece, all within a supportive and thoughtful workshop setting. There will be prompt resources to take home to keep the magic alive!

Itinerary: During the class, you’ll have the opportunity to listen, reflect, write, and share. We’ll discuss the role of language and writing in folk craft traditions, and explore the ways in which writing and creating in community enhances the experience of poetry. A variety of lecture, individual writing time, and group response will create the structure for this class.
