Chainsaw Milling
Chainsaw milling is a budget-friendly way to create your own lumber virtually anywhere you can find a log.
In this class, students will learn how to utilize a chainsaw with a mill attachment to create lumber from logs of all sizes and shapes. We will cover the necessary tools, useful add-ons, safety considerations, and how best to utilize the materials on hand. There will be two saws to display both a budget-friendly option and a more robust setup optimized for heavy use.
Students will walk away with hands-on milling experience and the understanding of a mill set up, wood grain considerations, and wood drying techniques.
Meet Your Instructor:
Brian Cone
Brian works and creates with wood in a variety of forms for his business Cone Furnishings. From custom wood furniture, to wood boxes, spoons, and artisan products, Brian’s process begins with fallen local trees that he mills and dries as lumber for his products. Brian enjoys focusing on unique, one-of-a-kind logs, lumber, and finished pieces. He is also a climbing tree worker a couple of days a week. He enjoys sharing this love for woodworking with others!

Prerequisites/Skill Level/Age Requirements:
No prior experience required. General chainsaw knowledge is a plus, but not necessary. Must have the ability to complete manual work .
