Beginner Sock Knitting

There is nothing better than a cozy pair of wool socks to warm your toes during a Northern Michigan winter, especially when you have made those cozy socks yourself! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to knit cuff-down socks using the Magic Loop method.
We’ll work through each step of sock construction together, from cuff and leg to heel, gusset, foot, and toe, while building confidence in knitting small circumferences in the round. You’ll also learn how to take accurate foot measurements to achieve a comfortable, well-fitting sock. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have completed one full sock and have all the skills needed to finish the second on your own.
Sock knitting is one of the earliest documented forms of knitting, with a rich history that stretches back centuries. As you knit, you’re connecting with a craft that has been passed down through generations.
Whether you’ve always wanted to knit socks or are looking to build on your circular knitting skills, this workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to keep making socks long after the class ends.
Note: All tools and materials will be provided. Yarn options will be solid or gradient/ombre.
