Our instructors are a crew of passionate artists, dedicated naturalists, and engaging storytellers eager to pass on their knowledge to others.

Steve and JC Bailey are the founders of Bailey’s Farm, known for their small-batch honey, pure goat milk bath products, and their signature kombucha. As one of only two Native American and female-owned kombucha producers in the U.S., they use Michigan-grown, organic, and biodynamic ingredients to create 12 unique flavors of small-batch kombucha.

Dave is a pioneer in Michigan’s wine industry, working with vineyards and small growers to elevate the region’s farming practices and wine quality. Passionate about farming and winemaking, Dave’s mission is to create exceptional wine and inspire biodynamic and organic practices for future generations.

Cody Cook-Parrott is a writer and artist living on the Leelanau Peninsula in Northern Michigan. Cody has a BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan and is an MFA candidate at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University. Their work has been featured in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Dance Magazine, The Huffington Post, and more.

Lauren is a wet-felting artist and educator with a background in Norwegian cultural studies, inspired by Nordic crafting traditions and their connection to nature. After honing her skills in Sweden and teaching at North House Folk School, she now shares her passion for wet-felting at Green Door Folk School.

Megan is a third generation gardener with a deep passion for inspiring others to grow a garden in the simplest and most natural ways. She approaches gardening using what nature already offers and focuses on creating smart edible spaces that give back to the larger ecosystem.

Dawson Moore, founder of Michigan Sloyd in Harbor Springs, Michigan, has been practicing traditional woodworking for over 10 years. Drawing from the Scandinavian sloyd tradition, he emphasizes the principles of educational sloyd—fostering creativity, patience, and skill through hands-on learning while crafting functional, everyday objects like utensils and furniture.

Artist. Maker. Serial learner. Advocate of slow. Kristina Nichols is a textile artist based in Traverse City, Michigan. Utilizing traditional textile techniques, she creates heirloom quality textiles for the body and the home.

Lisa Thauvette co-founded Full Tilt Comedy after years of studying and performing improv in Brussels, Belgium. She brings extensive experience teaching improv to players of all levels and regularly produces and performs shows locally and beyond.

Amy combines her backgrounds in modern dance, kinesiology, and physiology to teach spinning and knitting with a unique focus on movement, composition, and technique. A published author in top fiber arts magazines, she is known nationwide for her engaging teaching style and practical approaches
